Cowboy Joe, who had worked with me for years repairing furniture, detested cats – Mitten, more than most. Joe was straightforward and down to earth. Mitten had an attitude—she was QUEEN! The cowboy and the cat formed an edgy relationship.
In the northwest corner of our Winnetoon Village Park is the City Jail. It was built along the railroad tracks and rarely used. Over the years the shingles blew off and neglect took hold.

After District #58 schoolhouse was moved into Winnetoon, it was allowed to settle onto its new foundation and into its new surroundings until the following year. In the summer of 1999 it received a new roof.
